Welcome to "Morning Hangover" — an excellent way to start your day with the crew at TheFeed…no matter what you’re recovering from. Every morning you’ll hear musings from two of TheFeed’s editors and have the chance to share your thoughts on what’s going on in the gaming world. Patrick Klepek: I’ve been afraid Wii Sports Resort would be a little too complicated for the people whose enjoyment of the Wii has never gone beyond Wii Sports. But in a revelation that should not have come as a surprise to me, Nintendo knows better. My family is visiting this week and my brother and I became obsessed with the basketball mini-game. Eventually, my Dad, a former basketball player himself, asked if he could play. That blew my mind. A few beers probably helped his confidence, but a few rounds later, he was nearly beating both of us. The competition even spilled over to a nearby bar, where we all played one of those addictive moving hoop arcade games. Thanks for making a night with my family so memorable, Nintendo.

Raymond Padilla: Yesterday, I wrote about the decline of iconic characters in gaming. Due to higher levels of immersion, sophistication, and realism, games allow you to be the hero. It’s an interesting trend and I can see how it appeals to many people…I’m just not one of them. To steal a quote from an episode of Seinfeld, "I can’t be with someone like me. I hate myself! If anything I need to get the exact opposite of me." I enjoy playing as other characters. When I lose myself in a game, I don’t want to be the hero. I want to be by his or her side. While I appreciate that many of today’s games allow players to be the hero, I prefer protagonists with strong characterization, not transparency. Perhaps I’m being old fashioned or maybe it’s because of all the comic books I’ve read, but I rather play as a well defined character with a deep backstory than play as me. After all, I spend most of my day playing as me, right? How about you? Would you rather adventure as an established character or yourself?
